Saving a fixed share of net pay as soon as it arrives is the simplest way to build the habit. 20% is a starting point, not a rule: if it does not fit, start with 5% and raise it.

What that becomes in fixed income

Monthly deposits at 100% of the CDI rate (13.65% a year, today's rate held constant), regressive income tax already deducted.

How the calculation works

How Brazilian net salary is calculated in 2026

The calculation subtracts social security (INSS), withholding income tax (IRRF) and the other deductions you enter from gross salary. INSS uses progressive brackets. IRRF uses the more favorable of the available legal deductions and simplified deduction, then applies the year’s tax reduction. Dependents affect the income tax base.

A worked example

A gross salary of R$5,000.00, with no dependents or other deductions, gives R$501.51 in social security, R$0.00 in income tax and R$4,498.49 net under the 2026 tables. Edit the fields above to calculate your scenario.

Common questions

Why might this differ from my payslip?

Overtime, commissions, allowances, alimony, benefits and collective agreements can change taxable amounts or deductions. The tool uses monthly salary and the fields entered; your payslip remains the statement of actual pay.

Must I save 20% of my salary?

No. It is the initial scenario. Use the buttons or slider to choose another percentage, including zero. The chart and projection update to match.

Does a gross raise translate into the same net raise?

No. Social security and income tax can change with salary. The raise section recalculates deductions and shows the additional take-home amount under your assumptions.
